DAVID SYMMONDS

The seeds of creative thought and love of the water were planted early. David Symmonds grew up surrounded by the Great Lakes, the son of a professional photographer, and these two elements have become inexorably linked.

With unique access to the medium of Photography pervading his earliest memories, David went through various permutations. Early commercial work morphed into more experimental work as he explored the boundaries, history, and art of his craft. Embarking on a quest to develop a visual language and body of work that communicates the deep connection we all feel with the elements of the natural world, David put in motion a synthesis and synergy of life and art.

A blue water sailor, surfer and kayaker, David's world revolves around the water and he connects deeply with the self-exploration quality that his element provokes. His work as an artist conveys the force and emotion of these meditations, unlocking a hidden mysticism of the experience through his medium.

David Symmonds lives the "Island Life" in New York City. On the small island of Broad Channel in Jamaica Bay, he is surround by his muse. His work has been acquired by an extensive range of private and corporate collections and he travels frequently, working and showing wherever there is a City by the Sea.
